Acceleration = functions=20 include Inverse Discrete Cosine Transform, Hardware Motion = Compensation and=20 Subpicture Alpha Blending units. General Playback = Performance and=20 Quality Issues

Enabling video=20 profiles like "Vivid", "Theater" or "Bright" instead of "Original" = consumes=20 extra CPU power. It is recommended that you use a system running at = least=20 400MHz in order to use these color profiles.
To = enable=20 audio effects such as Dolby Headphone, Dolby Virtual Speaker, SRS=20 TruSurroundXT, CLMEI, and Dolby Pro Logic II decoder, or to play DVD = titles=20 with DTS digital surround tracks, it is recommended that you use a = 400MHz or=20 higher processor system and have at least 128MB of system RAM. =
In = 2 Speaker=20 Mode (Audio Configuration), the "DirectSound3D" option may have weaker = audio=20 volume as compared to "Stereo" or "Dolby Surround". This is a normal=20 occurrence.

Playing DVD=20 Files on HDD:

For DVD Video=20 and DVD+VR formats, you should open the "VIDEO_TS" folder. For DVD-VR, = you=20 should open the "DVD_RTAV" folder.
The DVD=20 Auto-Resume function is unavailable.
Bookmarks may=20 be set during initial playback, but will not be available for recall = when=20 playing the file set again.

DMA=20 Mode:

It = is HIGHLY=20 recommended that you enable the DMA function of your DVD-ROM in order = to=20 reduce CPU loading when accessing DVDs. Windows XP, Windows 2000, = Windows ME,=20 Windows 98, and Windows 98SE all contain built-in DMA support. =
The CyberLink=20 system diagnostics utility launches automatically after PowerDVD 5.0 = is=20 installed to help you activate the DMA option. However, Windows XP = only shows=20 the DMA status of your DVD-ROM drives since Windows XP enables DMA = support=20 during its setup process by default.

Display Issues:

To = ensure that=20 PowerDVD works properly, please install version DirectX 8.1 or = higher.=20
PowerDVD 5.0=20 requires the DirectDraw overlay surface for optimal playback = performance and=20 video quality. Almost all current display cards support this = feature.=20
If = the=20 DirectDraw overlay surface cannot be created, PowerDVD 5.0 will use a = slower=20 mode called the DirectDraw off-screen mode. The reasons why the = DirectDraw=20 overlay surface cannot be created can be because the color depth, = desktop=20 resolution, or screen refresh rate is too high, leaving insufficient = bandwidth=20 to sustain the creation of an overlay surface, or else the display = card=20 requires the installation of the latest DirectX Runtime. Try lowering = the=20 desktop resolution, color depth, or refresh rate, and then try = again.=20
It is highly=20 recommended that you NOT run PowerDVD under 640x480 resolution, since = the=20 resolution of DVD video is greater than 640x480.

CLEV/CLPV-Related Issues and System=20 Requirements

To = use CLPV,=20 it is highly recommended that you use a graphic card with 8MB or more = video=20 memory.
CLPV and CLEV are sophisticated video processing = technologies that=20 require higher CPU power. If both of these functions are enabled = (especially=20 in conjunction with other audio effects), it is recommended that you = use at=20 least a 1.0GHz system for optimal performance.
CLPV and CLEV=20 are implemented within a CyberLink proprietary video decoder, thus, = they are=20 not available when the hardware video acceleration function is = enabled.=20
