archive.org):</div><div>“In this video I'm gonna share with you why there's no such thing as a sociopath. OK. The definition of "sociopath" is a person with personality disorder manifesting itself in extreme antisocial attitudes and behavior and a lack of conscience. It's often used as an excuse by people who have no mental illness related to this to be rude to people that they don't really know, strangers specifically. It's also used by people so they seem like emotionless, you know, special snowflake. Um, first of all you're not a sociopath, and a sociopath is not a psychopath. "Sociopathy" was previously a term used by a small amount of psychiatrists to describe patients who are antisocial or those who developed psychopathic personality disorder as an effect of purely social or environmental factors. Um these psychiatrists believed that by removing the patient from the situation they would be cured miraculously; unsurprisingly this isn't true because we now know that psychosis is developed early or is genetic. This term is no longer used because it's based on the idea that you can develop a temporary personality disorder, which has been scientifically disproven. You can't develop PPD from your environment or social situations nor can you develop it in your adulthood. There is no spectrum for psychopathic personality disorder because essentially everyone functions normally. Therefore there's no such thing as high or low functioning because you have what is considered abnormal behavior or thoughts that does not mean you are mentally ill by any means. There's a space between what is considered healthy and what is considered mental illness, and there's an either- an even bigger gap between what is considered genuine psychopath. Psychopathic personality disorder is a serious mental illness that will, if severe enough, put you in a psychiatric unit against your will for as long as they need you to be in there. To get a diagnosis for PPD you need to meet the cri- the criteria of DSM 5 or um DSM 6 or 4. Thi- This is the criteria for PPD which is the interchangeable name what they've recently changed PPD to because um you have to meet the same basic criteria for all personality disorders. Um these are pretty self explanatory. If you're a self proclaimed sociopath and believe that you fit the criteria, honestly all that they're gonna do if you actually seek help for it um they're not gonna diagnose you with sociopathy because it's not a thing, or they probably like, I don't know, but if you- if you believe you're a sociopath you're, you probably have something else going on or maybe nothing at all.
